How To Use This Site

Welcome To Dance Away! A Blog For Ballroom Dancers.

I created this site with a simple goal in mind: to make everything regarding ballroom and social dancing easily accessible to everyone, both prospective and current dancers alike.

This site contains mostly stuff about myself (Lisa Spiro) and Hartford Ballroom (where I work), but there's other useful stuff here too.  I've posted dance events throughout Connecticut, as well as a few in neighboring states.  There's also a page containing articles about ballroom dancing and some videos of the various dance styles.

Below are links to the different pages you'll find on this site, just click on the titles.  You'll also see what the different images mean on the home page, so you can quickly find what you are looking for!

1. About Lisa Spiro: This page is about yours truly!  You'll find not only my dance history, but also links for my lessons, both private and group.

2. About Ballroom Dancing:  This page contains a plethora of information about ballroom dancing.  You'll find not only information about the different dance forms that are popular today, but also links to articles about ballroom dancing and any other information you might need, such as where to buy dance shoes, and more.

3. Hartford Ballroom Dance Studio: This page contains information regarding the studio where I work.  Here you'll find our class and event calender, as well as information regarding private lessons.  You'll even find links to our step lists of what's been done during classes each month, something that might prove helpful for those who are trying to keep track of what they've learned.

4. Dance Events In Connecticut: On this page you'll find a list of all the dances I could find that regularly take place in Connecticut, along with their basic information and links to the original sites.  I'll list the one-time events as well whenever I can find them, including workshops.  Please keep in mind that these events might change without my knowledge, so check their websites before going to one of these dances.

5.  Dance Events Outside Of Connecticut: On this page you'll find a list of events that take place in Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.  These are dances that come recommended by fellow dancers and dance students.  Once again, I can't completely guarantee the accuracy of the information on the page, so check the original websites to make sure there is definitely a dance going on.

5. Lisa's Classes And Workshop Information: This page contains all the information you need for any of my group classes, private lessons, and upcoming workshops.  I should tell you that I do also post information for workshops done by other teachers, and you can find them in the Dance Events Page.

6. Step Lists and Workshop Index: As a fellow dance student (yes, teachers still take dance lessons), I know how tricky it is to remember new steps, so this page contains a step list index to help you out!  These step lists are for the Hartford Ballroom dance classes, and for all the workshops that I've done so far.

What The Post Icons Mean:

The Hartford Ballroom Logo: I use this picture for any posts related to the Hartford Ballroom Dance Studio, particularly posts regarding what was covered in the classes.

Ballroom/Social Dancing: This picture is associated with ballroom dancing and ballroom events.

Swing/Salsa and Other Fun Dances: I use this pic to help you easily recognize posts and events related to swing, salsa, and other specialized dances

Argentine Tango: There is a lot of Argentine Tango out there, so every time you see this pic, that's what that post is all about!

My Reviews: This picture marks any posts I have regarding events that I attended, and workshops/classes that I took.
