Lisa's Technique Workshop November 8th!

Hey folks!  This Saturday, I'll be teaching a technique workshop before the 2nd Saturday social!  Here's the info:

Spins And Swivels--Tips And Tricks To Stay On Your Feet
A technique workshop with dance instructor Lisa Spiro

Saturday, November 8th at 6:15 p.m.

Only $10!

Hartford Ballroom Dance Studio
30 Arbor Street North Side, Rm 306,
Hartford CT 06106

What This Workshop Is About:
Do your spins feel wobbly?  Does your balance feel compromised sometimes when you dance?  Do you feel like your posture and technique need a little a work?  Then this is the workshop for you!
In this class, you’ll learn techniques and exercises taken from ballet and ballroom that will help improve not only your posture and balance, but the overall appearance of your dancing as well.
The exercises you'll be learning are easy to do and can be done at home.  No partner is needed!

Who Would Benefit From This Workshop?
This is a workshop for dance students of all levels, particularly intermediate level students.  If you are a beginner student, this workshop would work best if you have at least done rumba, waltz, swing, and salsa.

Any Requirements For This Workshop?
  •  Wearing something slippery on your feet is absolutely necessary!
  • Dance shoes are ideal, such as ballet slippers, jazz shoes, or ballroom dance shoes.
  • If you don't have dance shoes, wear socks or a shoe with a slippery sole (I would go with socks).
  • Do not wear sneakers or rubber-soled shoes! They have a sticky bottom that will make it difficult, even impossible to do the exercises I'll be teaching.
  • Some dance experience is necessary in order to benefit from this lesson.  Absolute beginners should not do this lesson.  If you are a beginner (Hartford Ballroom Basics level), this workshop will work best if you have done any of the following dances: salsa, swing, rumba, waltz, and tango.

Additional Stuff You Should Know:
  • Pre-registration and Partner: No pre-registration is necessary, and no partner is necessary.  The exercises we will be doing will be done by yourself.
  • When To Arrive: Please arrive a few minutes early.  I would like to be able to start on time, and it helps to know the dance experience of the students before I begin.
  • Payment Method: I can only accept cash or check.  Please make checks payable to Lisa Spiro
  • Parking and Building Info: Parking is available both in front and behind the building.  If the doors to enter the building are locked, enter the code 8867* into the keypad next to the door.  Take the elevator up to the third floor.  When you exit the elevator, take a right and you'll see our studio doors!  There's a stairwell next to the loading dock, and there are bathrooms on every floor (we recommend the second floor bathrooms).
  • Recording Information: At the end of class, I will spend a few minutes to recap everything that was covered.  Feel free to take a video of that recap, but please do not post the video anywhere on the Internet.  The video is for your private use only.  If I want a video posted on the Internet, I would rather do it myself so I have some control over what gets posted.
  • Dance Social: After the workshop, Hartford Ballroom will hosting it's 2nd Saturday social!  This dance only costs $10 (separate from the workshop), so please feel free to join us and use that time to apply what you learned into your dancing!
