This Week's Dance Events and Workshops: August 31st to September 6th

It's the first week of September!  Summer is winding down, kids are back in school, and seasonal dances are winding down while the fall schedules are starting back up.  So there are quite a lot of dances going on.

This week, we have a number of great dances, along with several workshops taught by teacher Ari Levitt.  He's also teaching the beginner class at the First Friday Swing Dance.  Apparently he's a great teacher, so I would recommend trying at least one class of his this week.

If you want  more information, click on the event name.  It's a link that will take you to the event home/information page.

Happy dancing everyone!

P.S.- If you see this little red stamp, that means that this event is strongly recommended, either by myself, or by one of the other two teachers at Hartford Ballroom.

Tuesday, September 2nd
Blues dance
The Democracy Center, 45 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA.
7:30 p.m. lesson, dance 8:30-11 p.m.
$5 for lesson, $5 for dance.
Described as a blues dance, I can only assume it's primarily for west coast swing.  Occurs every Tuesday.

Friday, September 5th
Hartford Community Dance's 1st Friday Swing Dance

West Hartford Town Hall, 50 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT
7:30 p.m. beginner swing lesson, dance 8:30-11:30 p.m.
$12 (general)/$10 (senior), lesson included
One of my favorite dances to go to! This month they're featuring my all-time favorite swing band (Eight To The Bar), and the guest teacher is Ari Levitt, considered to be a very good teacher.

Crosby Whistle Stop, 24 Roland St, Charlestown, MA 02129
8pm lesson, dance 9-12pm
$15 (general)/$13 (students and seniors), lesson included in price
This one sounds like a good time! Apparently there's a live band every week.  This week features The Scrub Board Serenaders.
